The Bloom Collective | Unbalanced
Every object that is visible in a photo carries visual weight. This includes hue, color, the brightness, the size and even the placement of objects. Those elements can affect the audience’s perception of the object’s symbolic weight. Therefore, it’s possible to create compositions where they feel balanced and unbalanced. Balanced images are when the weight of the object or objects are evenly distributed and unbalanced compositions are when the visual weight is stronger in a single area within the composition. This week’s theme is to show you, the viewer, that even unbalanced images can pack a punch and draw you in. Sometimes, it’s fine to throw the “rules of photography” out the window, get creative and shoot what you want.
