Tuesday Tips #281 – The Element of Shadow

Where there is light, its compliment the shadow is never far behind. And while there has been plenty of “yang” the last few months, as we head into the cooler months it can be an ideal time to grab hold of more of the “yin”. If working shadows into your shots is something new for you, work at balancing shots you normally would shoot and then to supplement, look for the darkness or shadow that you may been ignoring all this time. From this point, the shadows are what you make of them as you configue your exposure. Your exposure of the shadow will determine how much detail of the shadow will remain in your final shot so take a few, all the while experimenting to find your sweet spot.

“If you dont have any shadows you’re not in the light.”
