Tuesday Tips #293 – Making the Most of Artificial Lighting

Many novice photographers will attempt to cover up poor color tones from artificial light with a black and white conversion but if you ask us, artificial light really shines when in color. When you are dealing with the mix of tones that are given off by artificial light, accurate in-camera white balance is clutch. We prefer using the Kelvin system since it offers quick adjustments on the spot but if you prefer a more spot on result, a custom white balance can be achieved using a tool like an Expo-Disk. Above all, don’t rely on auto white balance if thats your usual, it’ll likely not render the results you are looking for.

“If you are not willing to risk the unusual, you will have to settle for the ordinary.”
